This past Saturday was the Season Points Opener at Senoia Raceway.  Zach qualified 8th out of 15 Super Late Model drivers who were there to compete.  In the 25-lap feature race, Zach had worked his way up to 4th before a caution came out.  On the restart Zach was shuffled back to 8th. He raced his though the field, racing side-by-side with several different drivers.  He was able to make it back up to P5 with about five laps to go but ran out of laps before he could challenge Massey for P4.

ZACH'S NIGHT ENDS EARLY AT COCHRAN MOTOR SPEEDWAY

Last Saturday the team went to Cochran Motor Speedway, Cochran, GA to compete with the Southern All Stars. Twenty-five drivers were on hand to compete for the $7,500 up for grabs for the feature winner.

Zach did really well in qualifying -- 4th out of his group of 13 drivers.  All drivers were required to race in heat races to determine their starting positions in the feature.  Zach started in P2 of his heat.  Unfortunately he wasn't able to take advantage of his front row starting position.  He made a few mistakes with his technique and did not have a good finish.  He would be starting the feature from pretty deep in the field -- 19th.

ZACH EXPERIENCES TROUBLE AT THE SENOIA SEASON OPENER

The team changed its plans and went to Senoia Raceway this past Saturday night.  It was Senoia's season opener and  it appeared Zach wasn't the only one ready to get the 2017 season started.  There was a total of 120+ cars competing in the track's eight divisions and the grandstands were absolutely full.

The track had received heavy rain the night before creating a challenge for Doug Stevens and his crew to provide the desired racing surface for their drivers.  When the gumbo gets wet, it provides alot of grip for the tires and the lap times are super sonic.  However, the gumbo can also begin to fall apart and develop ruts due to the high amount of moisture.

Zach, along with 18 other super late model drivers, went out in hot laps and quickly learned they could "hammer down" with all of the added grip.  In hot laps, Zach ran his quickest time ever at Senoia, a 13.273.  He was 3rd quickest behind veteran driver, Shane Clanton who ran a 13.270 and former legends driver, Mason Massey, who clocked the quickest lap of practice at 13.160.

ZACH BRINGS HOME TOP 10 AT SENOIA SHOWDOWN!

Thirty-four Super Dirt Late Model drivers showed up to compete in the inaugural $10,000 to win Southern Nationals "Showdown at Senoia". Qualifying and heat races took place on Friday evening with B-Mains running on Saturday leading up to the premiere event Saturday night. Zach struggled with the car's handling and ended up finishing in P6 in his heat race. He would have to race in a B Main on Saturday and finish in one of the top two spots in order to make the Showdown on Saturday night. On Saturday, there was no hot lap (practice) session prior to the B Mains. The team had made adjustments Saturday morning and was hoping the car would handle better for Zach to secure him a spot in the Showdown. He started 2nd in his B Main and quickly went into "Zach Attack" mode and made a pass for the lead. Zach won his 10-lap B Main by a three-second lead and would race in the Showdown! Read more

ZACH SCORES HIS SECOND TOP 5 IN TWO WEEKS!

This past Saturday was the final race of the Fall Brawl Series at Senoia Raceway. Fifteen Super Late Model drivers were at Senoia to compete. Zach qualified 6th and was hoping to bring home good results this week. During the feature it only took Zach about 4-5 laps to find his way to the bottom of the racetrack and secure 5th place. He then went to work trying different lines and was inching closer and closer to the drivers in the 3rd and 4th positions. Just about the time he had reached the car in the 4th position he also encountered a car a lap down. It took Zach several laps to get around the lapped car and he had lost some ground to the driver in 4th place. He ended up bringing home P5. Read more
